The police have made elaborate arrangements keeping in view of the festival of Dasehra on Friday. A number of organisations will hold celebrations, burning effigies in different parts of the city. Thousands of people participate in such programmes.

Police Commissioner SS Srivastav said around 1,800 cops have been deputed for the security arrangements. He said two companies of armed battalion and two teams of armed reserve police jawans were also deputed.

He appealed to the people to pass through the barricades installed at different grounds, where celebrations would be held, and park their vehicles at designated places. He urged the people to inform the police on 9781130666, 0183-2527100 and 0183-2529100 in case they came across any suspicious element or abandoned things. untoward incident.

DCP Amrik Singh Pawar, using his magisterial powers, has banned the bursting of crackers after 8 pm. He said crackers are allowed from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha said the administration hadn’t issued any licence for storing and selling crackers for Dasehra festival. He said firecrackers would be allowed only for upcoming Diwali and Gurupurab festivals.
