5 held with firearms

A police team, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, has arrested five members of a gang of armed robbers from the outskirts of the town. Arms and ammunition besides 750 intoxicating tablets have been seized.

SP (Investigation) Tilak Raj said the accused had been identified as Sandeep Singh Aloo, Sukhraj Singh, both of Mohalla Tonk Kashtri, Rajiv Kumar of Patti, Lovedeep Singh Lavi of Gandiwind Sarai and Lovedeep Singh of Noordi. He said two country-made .315 bore pistols, one cartridge, one China-made pistol, a datar, a kirch and 750 intoxicating tablets were recovered from them.

Tilak Raj said the police would seek their remand from the court. Many cases of robbery in and around the district are expected to be solved after interrogating them.
