Amritsar, October 15
A five-year-old boy studying at Shree Vinayak Nishulk Paathshala, a school for underprivileged, was allegedly beaten up by teacher on Monday.
He was beaten up by his teacher, Jyoti, for an alleged act of mischief in class. His father, Bharat, who is a street vendor, said when his son returned home on Monday, he revealed that his teacher had beaten him up in class. “I took off his shirt and saw that his left shoulder and back had bruises. I spoke to the headmistress of the school on Tuesday morning, who said he was given the punishment for tearing off a page from classmates’ book,” said Bharat.
The headmistress said: “We impart education free-of-cost to these kids and most of them are not quite disciplined. Occasionally, teachers do pat them or punish them. We will issue a warning to the teacher.” the headmistress said. — TNS
