ASI hurt in mishap

Amritsar: Santokh Kumar, an ASI posted at the Islamabad police station, had his leg fractured when an autorickshaw hit him here on Thursday.



Amritsar: Santokh Kumar, an ASI posted at the Islamabad police station, had his leg fractured when an autorickshaw hit him here on Thursday. He was going for official work on the Majitha road on his motorcycle. He said he parked his bike in front of a shop and tried to cross the road when the mishap took place. He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital from where he was shifted to a private hospital by his family members. The police have booked Lovepreet Singh of Pandori village, the driver of the autorickshaw. He is yet to be arrested. TNS

Mobile recovered

Amritsar: Central Jail authorities confiscated a mobile phone from an inmate, Gurwinder Singh, alias Vicky,  of Kot Baba Deep Singh. Joginder Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail, said the phone was without SIM. The Islamabad police have registered a case under Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisoners’ Act. Further investigation is on to find out how did he manage to slip in the phone inside the high security jail. TNS
