Tarn Taran: Two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths snatched the purse of a school principal last on Thursday evening. The victim, Harwinder Kaur, is the head of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Dhotian. She along with her son was on her scooter on the highway when the bikers forced her to stop and snatched her purse. She said her purse had Rs 6,000, a mobile phone, her identity card, Aadhaar card along with other documents. ASI Naresh Kumar of the Sadar police station said a case under Section 379-B of the IPC was registered against the accused. OC
Three booked in dowry case
Tarn Taran: Three persons of a family have been booked for demanding dowry. Charanjit Singh, investigation officer, said the accused have been identified as Jagjit Singh, his father Suba Singh and mother Gurpal Singh of Algon Kothi (Valtoha), 35 km from here. Complainant Beant Kaur said she was married to Jagjit Singh in February 2017. According to her, the in-laws family had been harassing her for dowry as they wanted her to bring an SUV. The Chohla Sahib police have registered a case under Sections 498-A and 406 of the IPC. OC
