AMRITSAR: The Health Department is planning to install biometric attendance machines at its hospitals to ensure the presence of medical staff during duty hours.

Amritsar, July 13

The Health Department is planning to install biometric attendance machines at its hospitals to ensure the presence of medical staff during duty hours. The directorate of health, in a letter to Civil Surgeons, has asked for data of the employees, including their Aadhaar numbers, to be fed into these machines.

Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said, “In the initial phase, the department plans to install these machines at the Civil Surgeon’’s office and the district hospital.” The biometric machines would ensure that employees reach their work stations in time. The higher-ups would get to know about their absence immediately.— TNS
