Officials of the District Health Department conducted an inspection of water tanks and air-coolers at Civil Surgeon office to take precautions against dengue and malaria.

Civil Surgeon Hardeep Singh Ghai and District Epidemiologist Dr Madan Mohan said that no larva of mosquitoes was detected. Dr Ghai said that every government and private office apart from residences were required to conduct weekly inspection.

“Normally people are aware of cleanliness and hygiene at their homes but ignorant of the same at their workplaces. As people spend most of the day time at offices, the time when dengue mosquito is also active, it is important that no mosquito breeding is allowed at work place,” said Dr Madan Mohan.

He said people can also use mosquito repellents and wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to reduce chances of mosquito bites. “But the best is to not let mosquito breed in unexpected places at homes,” he said that mostly air-coolers and water tanks without lid become breeding places.
