Amritsar, May 19

Voters with disability were satisfied with the services provided by the district Election authorities.

A visually challenged voter, Mandeep Singh Sohal, 24, who exercised his franchise for the third time, said, “It is for the first time I received a voter identity card and a voter slip in Braille. In addition, we have been issued an eight-page voter guide in Braille.”

Another such voter, Shamsher Singh, said, “It is satisfying to receive the polling material in Braille.”

Amolak Singh, a voter with disabilities, said there was a need to provide amenities for the PWDs in public places, especially for recreation. A differently abled voter, Dewinder Singh, called voter helpline (1950) to get a car to take him to his polling booth. He lauded the services of the election authorities. There are 6,101 disabled voters for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.
