Amritsar: A 28-year-old labourer died after falling into a container, where a cutter was functional at a cardboard factory in the Focal Point area here on Monday.



Amritsar: A 28-year-old labourer died after falling into a container, where a cutter was functional at a cardboard factory in the Focal Point area here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Parmod Kumar, a resident of Patna in Bihar. The police have booked the factory owner for negligence. Rajnandan, relative of the deceased, said Parmodh was working in the factory for the last two years. Yesterday he fell into the container which chopped him. Workers in the factory claimed that as per the rules the container should be covered. They had asked the factory owner to cover it but he did not pay heed. The police have registered a case. TNS

Extension of MC supdt withdrawn

Amritsar: The Local Govt department has withdrawn the extension of Garish Kumar, superintendent, Municipal Corporation, who had been charge-sheeted in the train tragedy at Jaora Phatak. The government has charge-sheeted three superintendents of various departments of the MC after magisterial inquiry. Garish Kumar had completed his one year extension on June 30 and the MC had extended his services for another year till June 30, 2020. TNS

1 booked for  firing in air

Amritsar: The city police booked an unidentified person for firing in marriage palace after the video of incident went viral here on Tuesday. Sub-Inspector Arjun Kumar at the Sadar police station said they got information that an unidentified person opened fire in the air and tried to create panic during marriage function at Kamla Devi Avenue on the Fatehgarh Churian road. The police have registered a case. TNS

One held for fake visa stamp

Amritsar: A girl student was arrested at the Shri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport for ‘fake visa stamp on passport’ here on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Kirandeep Kaur of Gurdaspur. Vimal Girdhar, immigration officer at the airport, said during immigration check he found that she was possessing fake visa of Canada. A case has been registered. TNS
