Four robberies: 6 looters identified

AMRITSAR: The holy city witnessed four robbery and snatching incidents in the past 24 hours. The Sadar police have booked three persons — Kushpreet Kachu, Suraj Singh, alias Thandi, and Vir Singh, alias Gullu — all residents of Mustafabad, for allegedly assaulting a girl and snatching her mobile phone.

The holy city witnessed four robbery and snatching incidents in the past 24 hours. The Sadar police have booked three persons — Kushpreet Kachu, Suraj Singh, alias Thandi, and Vir Singh, alias Gullu — all residents of Mustafabad, for allegedly assaulting a girl and snatching her mobile phone. Complainant Balwinder Kaur alleged that she, along with her daughter Sonam, was returning home from the Mustafabad government hospital when the accused surrounded them near Pippal Wala Shivala temple.

She alleged that they snatched the mobile phone of her daughter who was answering a call. She said when she resisted, the accused assaulted her. The complainant said she had Rs 3,100 in her mobile cover. The police have registered a case under Sections 379-B (2) and 34 of the IPC.

In another incident, Vishnu, a local resident, has been robbed by one Krishan Gupta of Judge Nagar. He stated to the police that he worked at a grocery shop in Gokal Nagar. On Thursday, he went to Pal Batter Wala House for delivering grocery items and was returning to shop when an unknown youth intercepted him and snatched his mobile phone after beating him up. The victim noted the motorcycle registration number of the accused, who was later identified as Krishan Gupta. A case under Section 379-B (2) of the IPC has been registered against him.

Similarly, Simrat Kaur, another local resident, has been robbed of her purse. She was standing outside her house in Ranjit Avenue when two unknown persons came on a bike and snatched her purse containing Rs 800 in cash and plastic money. The police have registered a case in this connection.

In another incident that occured at Bhilowal village, two persons — Sahil and Jagdeep Singh — of Sultanwind village looted gold earrings of a woman, Sukhwinder Kaur (60) of Bhilowal village. She alleged that the accused placed a sharp-edge weapon on her neck and removed her earrings. The Kathunangal police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC.

The complaints

  • Three persons surrounded two women in Mustafabad and snatched the mobile phone of one of them along with Rs 3,100 in cash. Later, the police identified them as Kushpreet Kachu, Suraj Singh, alias Thandi, and Vir Singh, alias Gullu — all residents of Mustafabad.
  • A grocery store worker was robbed of mobile and thrashed by a man, identified as Krishan Gupta, a resident of Judge Nagar.
  • Sahil and Jagdeep Singh of Sultanwind village have been accused of looting gold earrings from Sukhwinder Kaur (60) of Bhilowal village.
