The CIA staff on Friday claimed to have busted a gang to vehicle thieves with the arrest of four persons. Eight stolen motorcycles have been recovered from their possession. They were brought on police remand and further investigation was under progress.
Those arrested were identified as Rajbir Singh, alias Raju, and Ranjit Singh, both residents of Koharaka village, Dilbagh Singha and Paramjit Singh, both residents of Shehbazpur village in Tarn Taran.
A case under Sections 379, 411, 467, 468, 471 and 473 of the IPC was registered.
Vavinder Mahajan, in charge of the local unit of the CIA staff, said, “Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed them near Bharawan Da Dhaba. During interrogation, it was found that they used to steal motorcycles from different parts of the city to sell the same in Tarn Taran using forged documents and fake number plates.” Two bikes were found on the spot while six others were recovered from Shehbazpur and Koharaka village in Tarn Taran.
Meanwhile, the CIA staff nabbed Suraj Kumar of Gate Hakima and Rakesh Kumar of Islamabad with 100 gm of heroin. They were arrested near Mata Kaulan Hospital Chowk, located on the 100 Futa Road. They were brought on police remand for further interrogation.
