The issue between a senior faculty member and the ministerial staff union, which arose after a clerk accused a few junior resident doctors of manhandling him, was settled as they reached a comprise on Friday.
Sources at Government Medical College (GMC) said the comprise was struck in presence of senior officials.
Earlier, a clerk had earlier accused a senior faculty member of instigating junior resident doctors to attack him. The union had later threatened to initiate a protest. A source said, “The clerk who had alleged manhandling had stated that the faculty member had ill treated his mother, who is also an employee. He had stated that he had gone to question the faculty member when the incident took place.”
Meanwhile Jagdish Thakur, general secretary Punjab State Ministerial Staff Union, said, “The matter has been resolved amicably. Now, both the sides are ready to commit them to the welfare of patients.”
