Inmate hurt in clash at jail

AMRITSAR: Three inmates reportedly attacked another prisoner and injured him at Central Jail Amritsar here on Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Harmanjit Singh resident of Padda, Karanjit Singh, alias Karma, a resident of New Model Town, and Ranpreet Singh, alias Rana, of Mehsampur Khurd.

The accused have been identified as Harmanjit Singh resident of Padda, Karanjit Singh, alias Karma, a resident of New Model Town, and Ranpreet Singh, alias Rana, of Mehsampur Khurd. Mangal Singh, Assistant Superintendent of the Central Jail, said, Haramnjit Singh and Ranpreet Rana had some old enmity with another inmate Sukhjinder Singh, alias Bittu, of Kamoke village. Yesterday, they attacked on Bittu with the intention to kill him. Sukhjinder was seriously injured in the attack and referred to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mukandbir Singh at the Fatahpur 

police post stated that a case under Section 52-A of the Prison Act had been registered in this regard against the inmates. TNS
