The city police have booked Delhi-based two swindlers, including a woman, for duping a local resident of Rs 25,782 on the pretext of bonus offer of Rs 1 lakh on his insurance policy. The accused have been identified as Ameet Kumar, a resident of Ajnoth Muthra of Uttar Pradesh, and Sujata Bishvas of Gurugram Haryana.
Raj Kumar, in his complaint to the police, said that on April 5 he got a call on his cellphone that a bonus of Rs 1 lakh was being offered to him by the Max Company. “If you want to cash the money then you have to provide pan card, identity proof, along with a processing fee of Rs 25,782,” the complainant said. Raj Kumar transferred Rs 25,782 through National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) in the company’s account. When Raj Kumar did not get the money he inquired from the company officials about the scheme. The company replied that there was no such offer.
On a complaint by Raj Kumar, the Sadar police identified the accused by tracing their mobile number and bank account details. The police have registered a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and 66-D of the IT Act. The police are investigating the case and no arrest has been made so far.
