Man shot at, seven booked

AMRITSAR: A total of seven persons have been booked on the charge of attempt to murder, when they fired at a person, leaving him injured.

A total of seven persons have been booked on the charge of attempt to murder, when they fired at a person, leaving him injured. Though the incident occurred on November 16, a complaint was lodged with the police here on Friday.

Those booked included Swarn Singh and Shera, both residents of Chatiwind area, Ravi of Bale Chak village in Tarn Taran and Bikramjit Singh of Chabba. No arrest has been made as the suspects are on run.

Partap Singh of Chatwind area told the police that on November 16, he went to a medical store to take medicine. He saw all suspectts standing outside the residence of Sarvan Singh and and using abusive language against him. When he tried to stop them from doing this, they fired at him. He said a bullet hit his shoulder, following which he fell down. On seeing this, they fled from the spot.

Partap was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital for treatment. He said some people of the village tried to strike a compromise between them but failed. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Chatiwind police. A case under Sections 307, 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered.
