Martyrs remembered at commemoration day

AMRITSAR: In order to mark the police commemoration day, city as well as Amritsar Rural Police on Sunday paid rich tributes to the police martyrs who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.

In order to mark the police commemoration day, city as well as Amritsar Rural Police on Sunday paid rich tributes to the police martyrs who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.

Special programmes were organised at the Amritsar Police Lines and at Daburji in order to pay tributes to the martyrs. Their family members also took part in the programme who were later honoured by senior police officials.

Police Commissioner SS Srivastva presided over the function at the Lawrence Road Police Lines while IG Border Range SPS Parmar presided over the function at Daburji Police Lines of Amritsar rural police. The police officials also heard the grievances of the families of the police martyrs and assured them to solve at the earliest. Many of the complaints were sorted at the spot.

Speaking on the occasion, Parmar said history was replete with inspiring accounts of how Punjab police personnel to the call of duty and made supreme sacrifices for the country while fighting against anti-national elements. He also urged the people to be vigilant in our day to day routine and make sure that nefarious designs of anti-national forces were defeated. He urged them to help the police in this regard.

Parampal Singh, SSP Amritsar rural, said the Punjab police also stood the testing times and made supreme sacrifices. He urged the younger generation to inculcate the spirit of nationalism among themselves and work for the betterment of society.
