AMRITSAR: The water supply and sewerage wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) has got listed 32 cases regarding non-payment of bills by government and semi-government offices for hearing by Lok Adalat.

The water supply and sewerage wing of the Municipal Corporation (MC) has got listed 32 cases regarding non-payment of bills by government and semi-government offices for hearing by Lok Adalat. A large number of government offices have not been paying water and sewerage bills for years. Despite sending notices, the MC hasn’t been able to recover the dues. Finally, the MC has planned to move court.

Now, the water supply and sewerage wing has sent notices through court for the payment of pending amount. According to information, Rs 14.60 lakh is to be collected from the PWD office, Batala Road, Rs 7.51 lakh is pending with Guru Nanak Hospital, Majitha Road, Rs 4,64 from Government Medical College, Rs 3.49 of PSEB, Faizpura, Rs 1.98 lakh from the Sadar police station, Rs 2.64 lakh from Punjab Badminton Stadium, Rs 2.08 lakh from TB Hospital, Majitha Road, Rs 1.17 lakh from the SSP office, Old Jail Road, Rs 4.90 from Government Polytechnic College, Chheharta, and Rs 7.84 is to be collected from the Market Committee, Vallah. Apart from this, Markfed officials have assured the MC to pay its pending Rs 70 lakh soon. MC officials expect to collect more than Rs 1 crore after the redressal of these cases.
