Amritsar, December 5

The estate wing of the Municipal Corporation on Wednesday conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Putaligarh area. But it failed to remove permanent encroachments.

A team of the estate wing seized goods and vends from Putaligarh, Joshi Colony and MM Malviya Road.

A team led by Inspector Kewal Krishna and Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar also warned some occupants to vacate a government property in Joshi Colony.

Though, the estate wing of the MC has been conducting an anti-encroachment drive in various areas of the city, but there are several roads where officials never conduct such a drive.

The road from Putaligarh Chowk to Gawal Mandi chowk is encroached upon by shopkeepers and vendors. Food items have been placed on the road by some owners of sweets shops at the parking lot of Shimla Market, adding to the woes of the commuters.
