Education Minister OP Soni on Tuesday visited Government Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students. He visited the school to take part in a tree plantation drive under the Tandarust Punjab Mission.
During his visit, he met teachers and students of the school. He asked the students to take care of the environment.
The minister also stressed on education reforms. He said, “The Punjab Government has increased the education Budget by 10 per cent. Besides, digital education will be introduced in schools from the next session.”
Soni also praised teachers for making efforts to help students to beat examination stress with extra coaching across the district.
Students also took up their issues with the minister. “A few students took up the issue of the high fee charged for the preparations of competitive examinations after Class XII. I will consult with the government on it,” Soni said.
On the occasion, he honoured Udaynoor Singh for his performance in INSPIRE Science Exhibition. DEO Salvinder Singh Samra, councillor Vikas Soni and Jugraj Singh were also present.
