Amritsar, May 24
To advocate sustainable transport in a city that has already compromised its structural heritage due to ever increasing vehicular pollution, City on Pedals, a bicycle tour startup that offers heritage tours, has collaborated with Delhi By Cycle, a similar concept-based organisation. The two will be giving a curated tour on bikes, even rickshaws, with experts inside the holy city’s famous bylanes.
“The tours will aim to raise awareness regarding sustainable transport and an initiative, 24 Spokes, by DBC (Delhi By Cycle), to promote the same . The name is inspired from the wheel of life of our Indian Flag and it stands for uniting against rising vehicular pollution and making our cities cycle friendly,” informed Rishabh from City on Pedals. The curated tour will also offer guides, storytellers who will talk about the historical significance of heritage spots, like the 12 gates of the old Amritsar, now the walled city area. The tours will also mark the World Bicycle Day on June 3. — TNS
