Police crack Rs 1-lakh robbery case, two nabbed

AMRITSAR:With the arrest of two youths, the rural police on Saturday claimed to have cracked a robbery case in which an employee of Muthut Microfin Ltd was robbed of over Rs 1 lakh on Friday.

With the arrest of two youths, the rural police on Saturday claimed to have cracked a robbery case in which an employee of Muthut Microfin Ltd was robbed of over Rs 1 lakh on Friday. Those arrested were identified as Sukhwant Singh of Rayya and Sajan Singh of Butari village while their third accomplice Vikas Singh of Khilchian was yet to be arrested. 

Gurpreet Singh was robbed when he, along with his branch manager, was returning to office after collecting instalments from customers. In a complaint, he stated to the police that he worked at a branch of Muthut Microfin Ltd in Beas. He, accompanied by his branch manager Surinder Kumar, had gone to various villages for recovery. When they were going from Vadala Kalan to Sudhar village after collecting cash, three youth travelling on a bike intercepted them, he said.

He said they caught hold of them, hit on his head with sharp weapons and fled away with a bag containing Rs 1.18 lakh and payment receipts. He was admitted to Baba Bakala Civil Hospital for treatment.  The police had registered a case under Sections 379B (2) and 34 of the IPC. 

Trader assaulted, bag containing Rs 60k snatched 

Unidentified persons assaulted a shopkeeper and snatched around 60,000 from his possession at Ajnala on the night of Thursday. Rohit Bhalla, the victim, told the police that he returned home after closing his grocery shop on his scooter. He had Rs 60,000 in his bag. After parking his scooter, when he approached the gate of his house, four armed youth on two bikes arrived and entered into a scuffle with him. They snatched his bag containing the amount. 

The police have registered a case in this regard.
