Preparations are in full swing to host a kabaddi match at the local Guru Nanak Stadium, allotted under the International Kabaddi Cup here on December 3.

Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon said six teams would take part in three matches. He said different committees had been constituted to smoothly organise the event, which is dedicated to the 550th Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev.

An 8-member venue committee has been constituted and it will be led by the Deputy Commissioner himself. Another 8-member committee is constituted for the preparation of the playfield. Workers are already on job to spruce up the ground.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that bathrooms and retiring rooms for players were being repaired. Potable water, decoration of the stadium with beautiful lights, TV coverage, commentary box and other infrastructures were being prepared.

A refreshment committee is also constituted, which will serve VIPs, besides arrangements of medical and safety committee.
