Amritsar, July 12

A day after the death of a local resident due to electrocution, the Chheharta police have booked a sub-divisional officer of the PSPCL for causing death by negligence.

The victim, Bau Ram, was a rickshaw puller. He was carrying an air cooler when it came in contact with dangling wires in Baba Jeevan Singh Nagar.

Residents had held a protest against the PSPCL authorities, alleging that they had complained a number of times to the officials concerned and sought removal of the dangling wires. However, nothing was done and this led to the death of Bau Ram.

Angrej Singh, brother of the deceased, stated to the police that the mishap took place in Joshian Wali Gali. A sewerage work was in progress in the stree. Bau Ram was father of four children.

On the complaint of Angrej, the police have registered a case under Section 304-A of the IPC against SDO (west) Maninderap Singh. No arrest has been made so far as investigation is under progress, the police said.
