Road accident victim dies

AMRITSAR: A person, who was injured in a road accident on intervening night of Sunday and Monday, died here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Jagdeep Singh.

A person, who was injured in a road accident on intervening night of Sunday and Monday, died here on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Jagdeep Singh.

In his complaint to the Division E police station, Navdeep Singh, brother of the deceased, said he along with his brother Jagdeep Singh and cousin Rajgurinder Singh, was going on a motorcycle from Bharawan Da Dhaba towards the Hall Gate side. They stopped near Sadar Pagri House for a while when a speeding Honda Amaze white car hit them. They were rushed to Amandeep Hospital where Jagdeep Singh died. The police have booked the unidentified driver of the car under Sections 279, 427, 337, 338 and 304-A of the IPC.

Dowry case registered

Tarn Taran: Six persons of a family have been booked for allegedly harassing a woman for dowry. Complainant Rajwinder Kaur of Kotli village, 15 km from here, mentioned that she was married to Charanjit Singh a few months ago and her in-laws started “harassing” her for dowry. ASI Gurmeeet Singh said the accused had been identified as Charanjit Singh, his father Partap Singh, mother Jaswinder Kaur of Shahbad Mankanda (Kurkshetra), Gurpret Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur and Jaspal Singh of Sunam (Sangrur). Sections 406, 498-A and 120-B of the IPC have been slapped.
