Road mishap claims one life

AMRITSAR: One person was killed while another sustained serious injuries when an unknown vehicle hit their bike near Saidpur village on Thursday evening.

One person was killed while another sustained serious injuries when an unknown vehicle hit their bike near Saidpur village on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Gurdev Singh (28) of Saidpur village. While the seriously injured Gajjan Singh, who was riding pillion, rushed to a hospital.

They were returning to their native village from Lopoke when the incident took place. an unknown vehicle hit the motorcycle

Deceased’s brother Jasbir Singh stated to the police that Gurdev along with his uncle Gajjan Singh had gone to Lopoke for some work.

Jasbir said at around 7 pm he got a call from someone that an unknown vehicle had hit his brother’s motorcycle (PB-02-CH-1353). Jasbir said when he along with other family members reached the spot they saw Gurdev was dead while Gajjan was rushed to a private hospital in Ajnala.

Tejinder Singh, Investigating Officer, said they were trying to identify the suspect and the vehicle that hit the victims. The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 337, 338 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further investigation is under way.
