Lok Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann has said that there is a need for the unity of secular forces to defeat the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mann was in Naushehra Pannuan village, 15 km from here, on Saturday to address a public gathering organised by Manjinder Singh Sidhu, district president of the AAP.
In an interaction with mediapersons, Mann said the issue was yet to be deliberated upon by the party leadership, but he was of the view that there should be unity among secular forces to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is not a secular party as it has an alliance with the BJP,” he said.
Mann also dubbed Congress as a non-secular party. While commenting on the state government making dope tests mandatory for the government employees, Mann said that it was a ploy to divert the public attention from the real issues. He demanded that the state government should fulfill the promises made with the people before the Assembly elections, including the waiver of the entire loan of the farmers, and one job for each family.
In his four-minute address, he said his focus was on the drugs menace in the state and also the Lok Saba elections.
