Amritsar, May 22
Bearing testimony to efforts being adopted by Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar, for the promotion of inclusive education in the region, a team of Global Inclusive Education Network (GIEN), which visited the school to observe its inclusive practices, expressed satisfaction over the same.
Giving details about the team’s visit to the school, school principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said the GIEN team appreciated the efforts being made by the school for the inclusion of the Children With Special Needs (CWSN) in the mainstream.
“Functioning on the concept that each student has his own importance, including the CWSN, we have adopted a system that works to give them the best in terms of academics and co-scholastics,” Sharma said. He added that the next step would be to prepare them for life beyond the school.
“So the laws and provisions available are being assessed and implemented. Awareness is being raised so that society at large becomes more accommodating and sensitised to the needs of people with special abilities,” he maintained.—TNS
