Amritsar, November 30

State BJP president Shwait Mailk has accused Capt Amarinder Singh government of slowly moving to materialise the Amritsar-Ferozepur railway link.

Addressing mediapersons here today, he said the NITI Ayog had sanctioned about Rs 300 crore in 2016 and the provincial government now started the land acquisition process. He said the government had to provide only land which would cost it not more than Rs 40 crore. He claimed that he had written five letters for that to the CM.

Malik, who is also Rajya Sabha member, stated that he many a time took the matter of more trains, including luxury trains like Rajdhani and Vande Matram, with the Railway Ministry. However, the latter refused to run more trains from the Amritsar railway station as the Amritsar-Delhi railway track was extremely congested.

He said the Amritsar-Ferozepur rail link would provide another route to this part of the country.
