Amritsar, December 3

Making children aware of the battle heroics of our soldiers and teaching them martial history of the country through art and craft, the Punjab State War Memorial and Museum engaged youngsters in several cultural activities during a two-day event. It was organised in the run-up to the Military Literature Festival, which is scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from December 12 to 15.

The second day of the event was full of fun and colours as students from four prominent schools in the city participated in an art workshop as they celebrated the bravery of the Indian Armed forces. The workshop was conducted by artist Harvinder Kaur, who is based in Delhi, with an aim to create a stress-free and engaging environment for the children.

“The creative workshop was organised with an aim to give children a platform outside the school to unleash their creativity. It was also a step towards the museum’s programme to create awareness about traditional arts and crafts of the country,” said Harvinder Kaur, who is also a consultant curator of the war memorial and museum.  Harvinder said conversations on heroes who sacrificed their lives in post-independence battles were held on the occasion.  The Military Literature Festival 2019 will organise several activities celebrating the bravery of the armed forces. “A lot of community engagement activities are being held all across Punjab. The war memorial and museum is hosting these activities. Next year, events under the festival will be held on a larger scale,” said Col HP Singh, director, war memorial and museum.
