The District Library, in collaboration with Punjabi Sahit Sabha, Chogawan, organised a programme under the National Reading Mission with Punjabi novelist Dr Charanjit Kaur on Friday.
The Mohali-based story writer and speaker has authored more than 20 books and has been vocal about social issues through her writings. She shared her childhood experiences and the inspiration behind becoming a writer and the challenges she had to face for her bold and straightforward opinions.
“Its is not easy to be able to share your piece of mind with the world but then who likes doing things easy?” she asked. “Being a women writer at that time was a struggle as young girls were told to confine themselves to their home and family. But with the right set of values and courage one can find the motivation to go on.” The audience, comprising mostly of young readers, asked a number of queries.
