Two policemen hurt in attack; 10 booked

TARN TARAN: Two cops were seriously injured when a police team went to Cheema Kalan village, 40 km from here, on Sunday night to remove a road blockade.

Two cops were seriously injured when a police team went to Cheema Kalan village, 40 km from here, on Sunday night to remove a road blockade.

Inspector Balkar Singh said ASI Gurbax Singh and Balbir Singh were injured in the attack and they were admitted to the Civil Hospital, Patti.

He said of the 10 persons, who had been booked, Ranjit Singh Fauji, Sahib Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Amritpal Singh, Tasbir Singh, Gurjant Singh and Jobanjit Singh, all residents of the same village, had been identified.

The police officer said the suspects had blocked a road and when a police team reached the spot to peruse them to remove the blockade, they attacked the cops. He said after the attack, they fled from the spot.

A case under Sections 307, 333, 332, 186, 285, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against the suspects.— OC
