The district election office on Thursday organised an event at the local railway station to educate voters about the right to vote under the Election Commission’s Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. During the event, banners and stickers were pasted on Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi to create awareness among people. Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional DC (General) Himanshu Aggarwal said a large number of people use railways so the administration decided to create awareness among passengers through it.

He exhorted the people to use their right to franchise to strengthen the democracy. He said people could dial 1950 (toll free) for any poll-related information.
