AMRITSAR: The Beas police have booked a man on the charge of abetment to suicide, after his wife ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance.

The Beas police have booked a man on the charge of abetment to suicide, after his wife ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance.

The deceased has been identified as Manjit Kaur (42), wife of Baldev Singh, a resident of Tapiala. The police have registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC while no arrest has been made so far.

Gurlal Singh, a resident of Rayya and father of the deceased, told the police that Manjit was married to Baldev around 18 years ago. After a year, they started having a marital dispute. She had filed a maintenance case in the Baba Bakala court. He said the deceased was perturbed over the issue and therefore, took the extreme step.
