12 cases of Excise, NDPS Act in 24 hrs

BATHINDA: Twelve cases have been registered at various police stations in the district under the Excise Act and the NDPS Act in the past 24 hours.

Twelve cases have been registered at various police stations in the district under the Excise Act and the NDPS Act in the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, two residents of Haryana, Chamkaur Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, were held with 60 bottles of Haryana-based liquor at Bagha village. Both the accused are in police custody, while one Barkat Singh, also of Haryana, succeeded in fleeing the spot. All three have been booked under the Excise Act at the Rama police station.

In another incident, a resident of Kotfatta village, Lakhwinder Singh, has been booked as 70 liquor bottles of a Haryana-based brand were seized from his house in the village. The accused has been booked under the Excise Act at Kotfatta police station.

A resident of Kotbhara village was arrested with 48 bottles of illicit liquor. The accused, Gurdeep Singh, was nabbed by the police and a case has been registered against him under the Excise Act at the Kotfatta police station.

Two residents of Jangirana village, Buta Singh and Kuldeep Singh, were arrested with 1,880 drug tablets. In another incident, Gurdev Singh, a resident of Ramsara village, was arrested with 46 bottles of illicit liquor.

The Civil Lines police have arrested a person with 50 gm of heroin from Model Town Phase 1. The accused has been identified as Harjinder Singh and was arrested during a checking. Meanwhile, the Dyalpura police have arrested Rajinder Kumar of Bhagta Bhaika and seized 3 gm heroin from his possession during a checking.

In another incident, Kotwali police nabbed two persons and seized 600 drug tablets and 60 bottles of syrup from them during a checking. The accused have been identified as Kulbir Singh and Ashok Kumar, both residents of Gidderbaha.

Also, the Rampura city police have arrested Sandeep Singh of Muktsar district and seized 350 drug tablets during a checking outside the bus stand at Rampura phul.

Yadwinder Singh, a resident of Lehra Mohabat, was arrested with 50-kg lahan during checking. A case under the Excise Act has been registered at Nathana police station. Similarly, Mander Singh of Kotaguru village was arrested with 50-litre illegal liquor during checking. He has been booked under the Excise Act at Dyalpura police station.

In another incident, two residents of Talwandi Sabo, Kheta Singh and Buta Singh, were held with 12 bottles of illicit liquor at Gurusar village. Both the accused have been booked under the Excise Act but have been released on bail.

A Talwandi Sabo resident, Ramandeep Singh, was arrested by the police on the recovery of six bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. — TNS
