Muktsar: With the arrest of three persons, the district police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the alleged loot of Rs 7.3 lakh from a tractor-trailer driver near Chakk Sherewala village here on November 26. The police said the money actually belonged to a commission agent of Arniwala and Rs 5.76 lakh has now been recovered from them. Muktsar SSP Manjit Singh Dhesi said the complainant had hatched a plan and lodged a false complaint. “A team was constituted to investigate the matter, which solved the case within a few days. Charanjit Singh, a resident of Arniwala, had complained that while returning to Arniwala after collecting the money against cotton crop, some robbers had looted Rs 7.3 lakh from him on November 26. However, during investigation, it came out that Charanjit had himself planned it with the help of his friends Buta Singh and Jagsir Singh. The trio has been arrested and Rs 5.76 lakh has been recovered from them,” the SSP claimed. Notably, a case in this regard was registered at the Lakhewali police station. TNS
