aThe CIA staff of the Faridkot police on Sunday arrested a 45-year-old person with fake currency worth Rs3 lakh and a pistol.

According to the police, the accused used to buy drugs with the help of the fake currency.

The accused has been identified as Balwinder Singh, alias Binder, of Jaito town.

The police said after working with a photographer for many years and getting expertise in various Photoshop softwares, the accused started printing currency notes to buy drugs.

Narinder Singh, in-charge, CIA staff, Faridkot, said during a search, the police recovered the fake currency, a country-made pistol and four live cartridges from the accused, who was riding a bike without any number plate, on the Bajakhana-Jaito road.

He said a preliminary probe revealed that he was arrested two times for printing and possessing fake currency in the past.

The police officer said both times, he was convicted by the court, awarding him jail terms. Despite that, he did not mend his ways.

On Sunday, he was produced before the duty magistrate, who sent him to police custody till April 23.

A criminal case under Sections 489-A, 489-B, 489-C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections of 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered him at the Bajakhana police station.
