Muktsar, February 22
Krishan Kumar, Secretary of Education, has recognised five government senior secondary schools in the district for improving their performance. These schools are Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Mandi Harzi Ram, Malout; Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Muktsar; Government Senior Secondary School, Kaoni; Government Senior Secondary School, Lambi; and Government Senior Secondary School, Badal.
Notably, the Education Department had launched a programme wherein schools would be recognised for improving their performance on their own, without any help from the department. As many as 110 schools from across the state have been selected under the programme. While some districts have three schools under it, some have even more than five schools under the scheme.
As per the government programme, the principals of these five schools had written to the higher authorities, stating that it would be their responsibility to run the school in an effective manner and improve the results and learning levels, along with the sports and co-curricular activities.
Thereafter, some Sikhiya Sudhar teams had visited the schools for inspection. Now, it has been decided that no such team would surprisingly check these schools. Instead, the authorities and teachers from other schools may visit these institutes to learn the practices adopted.
Vijay Garg, principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Mandi Harzi Ram, Malout, said “This is the result of coordinated efforts of the staff that our school has been selected for its good performance. We will try our best to improve the results.”
