800-gram heroin recovered

MANSA: The special task force unit of the Mansa police has nabbed a person and recovered 800-gram heroin from him. The accused has been identified as Chet Singh, a resident of Sirsa district in Haryana. STF IGP Balkar Singh Sidhu and Mansa SSP Mandhir Singh said during patrolling, the STF stopped a Zen car for checking at Thutianwal Kachia in Mansa. During search, narcotics were recovered. Officials said the accused was a habitual offender and two cases of NDPS Act had been registered against him in Haryana. He is a proclaimed offender. TNS

Woman jumps into lake, saved

Bathinda: A woman jumped into lake number 3, but was saved in time. After getting information, NGO Naujawan Welfare Society members reached the spot and took the woman out of the lake. The woman is a resident Old Thana Road area and had taken this step over some family dispute. The Thermal police also reached the spot. TNS
