Applications for Baba Farid Society awards sought

FARIDKOT: The Baba Farid Society has invited applications for the Baba Farid Award for Honesty and Bhagat Puran Singh Award for Service to Humanity.

The Baba Farid Society has invited applications for the Baba Farid Award for Honesty and Bhagat Puran Singh Award for Service to Humanity.

The society confers these awards every year on September 23, the concluding day of the five-day Baba Farid Annual Festival, in Faridkot. Each award carries Rs 1 lakh and a citation. The applications for these awards could be sent by September 1, said Inderjit Singh Khalsa, chairman of the society.

So far, 53 persons have been awarded Baba Farid Award for Honesty (29 persons) and Bhagat Puran Singh Award for Service to Humanity (24 persons).

The name of awardees included Kiran Bedi, LK Yadav, Kanwar Vijay Partap, all IPS officers, Krishan Kumar, IAS, at present working as secretary of School Education Department, Dr Raj Bahadur, vice-chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, HS Phoolka, senior advocate and AAP leader, Bibi Inderjit Singh, the chairperson of Pingalwara Amritsar, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, environmentalist, Vijay Goyal, a philanthropist from Bathinda, Bhai Mannna fame Gursharan Singh, Dr Harbhag Singh, Dr Gagandeep Singh and many others.
