Bathinda, February 19

Employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Tuesday continued with their protest for the second consecutive day in front of the BSNL office at Bharat Nagar here.

Addressing the protesters, All Unions and Associations of BSNL (AUAB) leaders Tara Singh Brar, Manohar Lal, Kulbhushan Jindal and Ram Das Singh Sodhi said, “The government has been trying to kill public sector companies. It seems to be trying to hand over such companies into the hands of private sector to benefit certain businessmen. The survival of public sector organisations such as BSNL has become difficult due to the wrong policies of the Union Government.”

They said their demands were: the implementation of the 3rd pay revision with 15 per cent fitment, allotment of 4G spectrum to BSNL, payment of pension contributions by BSNL as per the government rules, settlement of the pending issues of the 2nd pay revision committee, approval of the BSNL land management policy without any delay, ensuring financial viability of BSNL and scrapping BSNL outsourcing for operation and maintenance of its mobile towers.
