The Independence Day-eve functions were organised at various places in the city. The 72 Independence Day was celebrated in the city with zeal and enthusiasm. The entire city was decorated with national flags.

Little Kingdom Nursery School celebrated Independence Day in the school campus. The function started with a prayer song. The young ones (aged 2 to 5) were dressed up as freedom fighters with each of them holding the Tricolour in their hand, they were made to march in the school lawns, for a ceremonial parade with the principal taking the salute.

It was followed by teachers singing patriotic songs like “Rang de basanti…” and “Hum Hindustani…” and children chanting slogans like “Bharat mata ki jai” and “Jai Hind”. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of unknown soldiers who sacrificed their life for the freedom of the country. The soft-boards of the school were decorated with national symbols. The principal of the school, Shuchita Grover, conveyed good wishes and greetings to all students and to their families on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day.

Radiant Kids Playway School celebrated the Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm and remembered with gratitude the sacrifice of the freedom fighters. The school was decorated with flags, flowers and pictures of freedom fighters. Children raised slogans “Vande mataram” and “Jai Hind” followed by cultural items evoking feelings of patriotism among all schoolchildren and staff members.

The principal addressed the children telling them about the significance of Independence Day and how they can serve their country if they became good human beings first and take care of their country doing small – small gestures like keeping their surroundings clean, obeying and respecting their elders and helping the needy.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem and distribution of sweets. The children were awarded prizes for different competitions.

Daddy’s Teddy Playway School in Jhujar Singh Nagar celebrated Independence Day in their school on August 13 (Monday). All kids were dressed up as Army officer, Bharat Mata, Bhagat Singh, Luxmi Bai, Narendra Modi and as a lotus. The school was decorated in the Tricolour they all made beautiful flags and there was different performance by students on patriotic songs. School principal told the students about the importance of the national flag and in the end sweets were distributed among students.

Bachpan, a play school located at Mata Jivi Nagar, celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with Indian Army jawans at Army cantonment, Bathinda. It’s the day when children celebrate, rejoice, pay tributes to the great leaders and take oath to serve the nation while hosting the national flag. With the unfurling of the Tricolor and enchanting of “Jana gana mana…” the spirit of valiance, courage and selfless service filled the air.

After that toddlers performed on patriotic songs and also paid tributes to our freedom fighters. Later, children were fascinated to see Army artillery and choppers which had specially been displayed by Army Aviation Squadron. At last Army jawans cut the cake to mark independence of the country and enjoyed with sweets and eatables.
