FARIDKOT: Former MLA and chief patron of Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society here Karnail Singh Doad passed away at the age of 82 years on Sunday.



Faridkot, April 21

Former MLA and chief patron of Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society here Karnail Singh Doad passed away at the age of 82 years on Sunday.

Doad was elected as an Independent MLA from Faridkot in 1985. Sangat Sahib Bhai Pheru Sikh Educational Society is known for educational institutions in the district and it is a registered body. The society is running five educational institutions —Khalsa Senior Secondary School (Faridkot), Dasmesh Public School (Faridkot), Dasmesh Public School (Kotkapura), Dasmesh Public School (Bargadi), Dasmesh Institute of Research and Dental Sciences, Faridkot. Besides, there is 100-bedded multi-specialty Dasmesh General Hospital, which is being looked after by the society.

While all educational institutions of the society will remain closed on Monday, the Baba Farid Trust will also keep its institutions closed in the memory of the former MLA, said Inderjit Khalsa, chief patron, Baba Farid Trust. — TNS
