BATHINDA: A man was robbed of a mobile phone at Rampura in this district.

A man was robbed of a mobile phone at Rampura in this district.

In his complaint to the police, Jiwan Kumar, a resident of Rampura, stated that the incident took place on February 17. He added that two persons came on motorcycle and forcibly took his mobile phone worth Rs 12,000 after beating him up.

A case has been registered against the suspects, identified as Vicky and Kala, both residents of Rampura, under Sections 379-B, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the Rampura City police station.

Incidents of snatching and theft were on the rise in the district. Last week, the district had reported three snatchings. On February 11, four cases of theft were reported in the district. In all these incidents, thieves had decamped with gold jewellery and cash from houses.

In the last one week, two cars, four motorcycles and an Activa scooter were reportedly stolen in the city.

Further, miscreants have been damaging vehicles parked on roadsides. They smash windowpanes of car before fleeing with valuables lying in them.
