BATHINDA: The Municipal Corporation (MC) has fixed charges for door-to-door collection of garbage in the city.

The Municipal Corporation (MC) has fixed charges for door-to-door collection of garbage in the city.

For instance, until now, the same charges were levied for door-to-door lifting of garbage from the residential areas. However, in the revised tariff list, the monthly charges would be taken as per the area covered by any house: Rs 20 from slum dwellers, Rs 30 from house measuring from 61 to 180 sq m and Rs 50 from 181 and more sq m.

As far as commercial units are concerned, Rs 50 would be charged for an area of 100 sq feet, Rs 100 for 200 sq feet, Rs 150 for 300 sq feet, Rs 200 for 500 sq feet, Rs 250 for 1000 sq feet and Rs 500 for over 1000 sq feet area.

The MC has fixed Rs 5,000 for petrol pumps, Rs 5,000 for universities, Rs 1,000 for private colleges and Rs 1,000 for other educational institutes.

For hospitals, the rates are Rs 1,000 for a 15-bed facility, Rs 2,000 for a 30-bed, Rs 5,000 for a 50-bed and Rs 10,000 for over a 50-bed. While Rs 0.50 per sq mtr will be charged from factories and Rs 200 per shop would be charged in a shopping mall and Rs 1,000 per screen would be charged from cinema houses or multiplexes. The MC would charge Rs 1,000 from banks and financial institutions.

The charges for hotels vary according to the number of rooms they have: Rs 500 for a 10-room hotel, Rs 1,000 for a 20-room hotel and Rs 2,000 for 20-plus-room hotel. Besides, Rs 1,500 per month would be taken from banquet/restaurant.

The MC will charge Rs 1,000 from a marriage palace having an area of 500 sq mtr, Rs 2,000 from a 1000-sq-mtr marriage palace and Rs 3,000 from a palace having an area of over 1000 sq mtr.

The MC will charge Rs 1,000 from an AC sweet shop and Rs 500 from non-AC sweet shop. Similarly, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 would be charged from an AC and non-AC dhaba. The MC would charge Rs 30 per room from the paying guest and Rs 30 from a vend or a kiosk in the city.

Even Rs 150 would be charged from a service station, Rs 300 from a liquor shop and Re 1 per student of a private school. On the other hand, government schools are exempt from such charges.
