Miscreants steal Triveni firm’s goods from STP site

BATHINDA: Unidentified miscreants, nearly half a dozen in number, stole material worth lakhs belonging to the Triveni Company by making the security guard and his colleague hostage at the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) site in Adarsh Nagar on Thursday night.

Unidentified miscreants, nearly half a dozen in number, stole material worth lakhs belonging to the Triveni Company by making the security guard and his colleague hostage at the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) site in Adarsh Nagar on Thursday night.

The accused also injured the security guard by stabbing him in the stomach with a sharp weapon while make his colleague hostage in a room and taking away the expensive material in a tempo.

An injured security guard said he was present late on Thursday night when two unidentified persons snapped the electricity wires at the STP. Half a dozen persons then came inside and surrounded him, all carrying sharp weapons, including iron rods.

The miscreants first attacked the security guard, stabbing him, and then hitting him with a rod. Later, they tied him up with electricity wires. Then they went towards the room of a labourer, Bablu, and threatened to kill his son if he shouted, before making him a hostage inside the room.

The accused later took away three drums of electricity wire and other material. The company claimed that the stolen material was worth around an estimated Rs 1.25 lakh.

After they fled, the labourer came out of his room and freed the security guard tied up with electric wires and informed the company officials and the Thermal police. The police also reached the spot and stated a probe into the incident.

On the basis of a complaint by Anil Kumar, manager of the Triveni Company, at the STP site in Adarsh Nagar, police have registered a case against unidentified persons under sections 457, 380, 342, 323 and 149 of the IPC at the Thermal police station.
