Over 30K books on display at two-day CUP exhibition

BATHINDA: As many as 46 book publication houses have displayed more than 30,000 books of Indian and foreign authors during a two-day exhibition that started at the Central University of Punjab here on Wednesday.

As many as 46 book publication houses have displayed more than 30,000 books of Indian and foreign authors during a two-day exhibition that started at the Central University of Punjab here on Wednesday.

The university library is organising the book exhibition under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor of the CUPProf RK Kohli.

The library, faculty members and students will get special discounts on books during the exhibition. On Wednesday, the special guests of the inaugural ceremony were two students and two research scholars, who visit the library regularly and whose research papers have been published in reputed journals.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, along with Dean Academic Affairs Prof P Ramarao and the guest students, took a glance on the latest books.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Kohli said, “In the book exhibition, reputed publication houses from across the country have displayed the latest editions of books written by Indian and foreign authors on different subjects. Youngsters can purchase books of their interest on discount after checking the detailed index and enhance their knowledge.”

Library incharge Prof SK Bawa said, “The exhibition provides book lovers a platform to choose books of various subjects. They can find limited edition and reference books on different subjects such as basic and applied sciences, pharmacy, humanities, law and literature. On the recommendation of faculty members, research scholars and students, the library will like to add the best books, which have been displayed in the exhibition, to its stock.”

Registrar KP Singh said the book exhibition was open to all and our university had forwarded an invitation to all educational institutes of the region to visit the fare.
