To get the custody of two gangsters, who were allegedly involved in the killing of Baba Dyal Das, deputy head of Dera Harka Dass in Kot Sukhia village, a team of the Faridkot police on Friday evening left for Mandsaur town of Madhya Pradesh.

The Mandsaur police have arrested Lakhwinder Singh of Jaimalwala village and Amreek Singh of Nathewala village of Moga district on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in multiple murder cases in MP and Uttar Pradesh.

They were nominated last week by the Faridkot police in the murder case of Baba Dayal Das. While the police have already arrested two of the accomplices but Lakhwinder and Amreek were absconding. After getting clue about their arrest by the Madhya Pradesh police, a police team left for Madhya Pradesh to bring both the suspects to Punjab on production warrant.

Involved in many criminal activities across states, both Lakhwinder and Amreek have been arrested with three automatic pistols, 101 cartridges, a car, two mobile phones, three tapes and five registration plates of car.

The murder of the deputy head was an outcome of struggle for the dera throne. The deceased was the officiating incharge of the dera as the incumbent dera head, Baba Hari Das, has been ill for the past many months. As Baba Dayal Das was being seen as imminent successor of Baba Hari Das, another aspirant for the top chair, Baba Jarnail Das, who is the head of Kapure branch of the dera (Moga), hatched a conspiracy to kill him, claimed the police.

The police have already arrested Amarjit Singh alias Makhan of Chugawan (Moga) and Harmeet Snigh alias Rubal of Kapure (Moga), who had done the recce of the dera on November 7. On the basis of their inputs, Lakhwinder Singh and Amrik Singh had killed the 55-year-old Baba Dayal Das on the same day.

Situated at Kot Sukhia village of Faridkot, the dera has 12 branches in various parts of Punjab and Haridwar in Uttarakhand. With over 500 acres of agriculture land and thousands of cows, the dera has an impressive following in the area.
