Punjab Police cagers win title

BATHINDA: The Punjab Police defeated Indian Railways (Blue) and won the national-level invitational basketball tournament being at the Police Lines basketball court here.

Bathinda, December 1

The Punjab Police defeated Indian Railways (Blue) and won the national-level invitational basketball tournament being at the Police Lines basketball court here.

In the final match, the police team defeated Indian Railways with a margin of 77-55 points to clinch the title. The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 51,000 while runners-up walked away with a cash prize of Rs 31,000. Tejinder Singh was adjudged the best player for delivering best performance throughout the tournament .

A total of eight teams participated in the tournament. Finance Minister Manpreet Badal presided over as the chief guest on the final day of the tournament.

The Finance Minister also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Sports Warrior Society for the promotion of the game and organising the tournament.

Ravipal, president of the Sports Warrior Society, said, our motto was only to promote sports.
