Lashing out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday accused him of going soft on Navjot Sidhu. She said the Punjab minister had “shown his true colours as a traitor”.

Harsimrat said, “This approach has raised many questions like what is the reason for this? Was Navjot Sidhu bribed during his Pakistan trip? What is a political conspiracy cooking in Rahul Gandhi’s mind? Every Indian wants answers to these questions.”

Harsimrat on Wednesday held public meetings in Talwandi Sabo, Pathrela and Baho Yatri villages in the district.

While addressing public meetings, Harsimrat said, “In my capacity as a Union minister, I have always tried to ensure that people of Punjab and my constituency avail of the benefits of welfare schemes introduced by the Central Government. But, the Congress, acting out of political vendetta, not only put hurdles in the establishment of an institute of the stature of AIIMS, but also deprived the common man of rightful benefits provided by the Centre’s welfare schemes. I urge residents to grasp the difference between right and wrong and propagate the philosophy of ‘Nanhi Chaan’ by doing our bit to help those who need us. Together, we can usher in a wave of popularity in Punjab.”

Harsimrat Badal also distributed sewing machines among the girls who have completed their stitching training at Naanhi Chaan training centres in Talwandi Sabo, Pathrela and Baho Yatri villages.

Harsimrat said around 150 learning centres had been opened by her, which made girls self-reliant and Nanhi Chhaan had started the trend of celebrating Lohri of girl child and had started a tree plantation drive.
