Rich tributes paid to Punjab Police martyrs

BATHINDA: Tributes were paid to the martyrs of the Punjab Police at a Commemoration Day function held at the Police Lines here today. A police contingent paid homage by reversing arms and a two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to the martyrs who fell to the bullets of anti-national elements.

Tributes were paid to the martyrs of the Punjab Police at a Commemoration Day function held at the Police Lines here today.

A police contingent paid homage by reversing arms and a two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to the martyrs who fell to the bullets of anti-national elements. The families of the martyrs were also present on the occasion.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Range, MF Farooqui and deputy commissioner Praneet laid a wreath at the martyrs’ memorial inside the police lines.

IGP MF Farooqui said October 21 was observed as Police Commemoration Day every year to remember the martyrs for whom duty was more precious than their lives.

He also stated that the state police had always proved its professionalism as well as exemplary courage to counter any challenge posed by the anti-national elements. He said the police should learn about the spirit of sacrifice from the soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

Farooqui lauded the role of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the security and integrity of the country. He also appealed to all the police officials to shoulder their responsibility sincerely and make these martyrs great souls as their inspiration.

Later, IGPMF Farooqui, Deputy Commissioner Praneet, Senior Superintendent of Police Nanak Singh listened to the problems of martyrs’ widows, children and kin.

They told them that they all were their family members and if they had any problem or grievance, then they could come to them anytime and put forward their issue. They also assured that their issues would be resolved on priority.

Many families of the martyrs put forward their grievances while talking to Bathinda Tribune. They said the Police Department remembered the martyrs for only one day in a year while on other days members of their families keep on running from pillar to post for jobs or other works but nobody listened to them.
